AI Made Us Fast, Engineering Makes It Last

Format: Talk

We are rewriting our core product because AI helped us move faster than our engineering system could absorb. We can rewrite it because AI now gives us the leverage to do it.

That tension is the heart of this talk.

For an early-stage startup, technical debt is not always a mistake. Sometimes it is the cost of learning quickly, validating product direction, and avoiding the bigger failure of building something perfect that nobody wants. AI-assisted development changes the economics of that tradeoff: it makes exploration, prototyping, and iteration dramatically faster, but it can also create inconsistent abstractions, shallow tests, unclear ownership, and architectural debt at the same speed.

This session is a field report from using AI across the software development lifecycle while rewriting a core cloud-native product. We’ll cover what worked, what failed, and how our process is changing around discovery, design, implementation, testing, review, CI/CD, security, documentation, and operations.

Attendees will leave with a practical model for what comes after vibe coding: better specs, stronger context, automated checks, production guardrails, and engineering discipline that makes AI-assisted software last.
