In the early days of our startup, speed was everything, so we adopted an off-the-shelf, generic SaaS offering to integrate customer data quickly. It worked well at first, but as we onboarded more clients, expanded to more sources, and encountered more edge cases, the limitations of generic ETL started to show.

In this talk, I’ll share how we transitioned from a one-size-fits-all tool to a custom-built, AWS-native ingestion system using Step Functions, Fargate, S3, DynamoDB, and RDS. You’ll hear:

In this session I will be speaking about Kubernetes operator for AWS EKS that detects Spot interruptions on GPU nodes, triggers ML job checkpointing, and recovers training by rescheduling on available nodes. This I prepared with an idea to provide an interesting example of a repeatable workflow for maximizing GPU cost savings without losing progress on ML training jobs. The setup covered in this talk will include services AWS EventBridge, S3/EFS , IAM, and CloudWatch. I will be presenting a live example to show node interruption handling, and seamless ML job recovery using my developed solution.

The emergence of microservices made us rethink how we built business applications. It led us to the migration of complex monolith applications to countless microservices. The adoption of the cloud and the suitability of container services helped revolutionize microservices.

It tested our thinking, shifted our minds, and questioned the way we’ve been building microservices. You know the AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK) lets you define infrastructure as code using programming languages like TypeScript and Python, but what if you could do much more than that? AWS doesn’t have a Flux Capacitor per se, but it relies on a key concept that, without it, we wouldn’t be able to use its services at all: the network. Sometimes, I think we just grant it this and forget that it is the base, and when we give a peak to the available network services, the number of them can be overwhelming. Some of them run in the background of other trendy services like Bedrock or are the base of core ones like EC2. That’s why I want to share some lessons I wish I had known when I started working in AWS 12 years ago. Join me in this session, where we will see a use case that required a hybrid connection between AWS and our On-Premises System, the challenges we had during the setup and debugging of our environment, and check some tips while using services like Site-to-Site and Client VPN, AWS Global Accelerator, Route 53 Resolver, PrivateLink and Redshift, Glue, Lambda VPC integration, to get our environment beyond 88 MPH.

Traditionally, software engineers leverage AI primarily for writing code or executing routine tasks. In this session, we present a different approach: employing AI as a dynamic user interface for an Internal Developer Platform (IDP). Rather than forcing developers to interact directly with complex YAML manifests or platform-specific commands, we demonstrate how an AI-driven interface can seamlessly handle the creation, observation, troubleshooting, and deletion of platform services.

Our objective is not to answer generic questions or provide general Kubernetes tutorials, but rather to enable developers to effortlessly consume and manage services specifically provided by the platform without detailed knowledge of underlying implementations. Using an Internal Developer Platform built with Crossplane (though the approach applies broadly to any API-driven infrastructure) we explore how AI can dynamically discover available services, prompt users through wizard-like interactions, and autonomously manage the lifecycle of platform resources.

At this day and age where autonomous AI agents execute workflows to accomplish their objectives, event-driven architectures prove to be a very flexible way to integrate interactions between different agents and systems.
